Bulb's, biscuits, beer & 'Bots!
Pay attention class its time for a history lesson (aaargh!)
At the time of the first census in 1801 Reading had a population of just under 10,000 (are you bored yet? bear with me!) In 1807 John Sutton a corn and seed merchant founded Suttons seeds. (who cares!) In 1822 Joseph Huntley opened a biscuit bakery. Another large industry was brewing (now you're talking!). So Reading became known as the town of 3 B's, bulbs, biscuits and breweries... Nearly 200 years later in the early "noughties" you can wander into the town centre and find hidden beneath the town hall the charming venue known as "The 3B's" And so ends our history lesson... Hurrah!!!! Smash Robots played the 3B's last night and fortunately there was plenty of beer and not a jammydodger in sight! With the fantastic Gimble starting proceedings it was apparent that the 3B's is a honey pot for the discerning Berkshire music lover and as a result we had an absolute ball. The highlight for us was an impromptu encore, which may be the norm at Wembley but is kinda rare on the pub circuit. Special thanks to must go to Marlon and friends and all those who came over to talk to us after the gig with such warm words of encouragement. It was one of the nights that make it all the graft worth while and we left feeling energised and excited and more in love with music than ever. We salute all those who made it a memorable night, lets do it again soon! :) Leave Comment: |
